Joseph Allen Boone
Joseph Allen Boone’s debut novel, Furnace Creek (2022), won the National Indie Excellence Award for LBGTQ+ Fiction and the Next Generation Indie Awards for First Novel. Author of four nonfiction books including The Homoerotics of Orientalism, Boone, who resides in Los
Angeles, is at work on a new novel about local theater titled Final Acts.
A graduate of Duke University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Boone is the endowed gender studies professor of media and gender at the University of Southern California.
