Gila Berkowitz

Gila Berkowitz was born in Israel to Holocaust survivor parents. She was raised in the Hasidic community in Brooklyn. Having worked as a war correspondent in the Middle East for Reuters and the LA Times, she is also a contributor to publications ranging from Good Housekeeping to Playboy. She was a Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University, where she won the Dreyfus Writing Award. Specializing in science writing, she was the editor of several journals for physicians. Gila is a frequent speaker on Israel, antisemitism, and the Holocaust, with a special emphasis on women’s roles in these issues. She lives with her husband in Jerusalem and frequently visits New York City.
